The Hudson Valley region refers to the canyon by the Hudson River and its surrounding communities in the state of New York, it unofficially spans from the north end of Westchester County and continues north to the cities of Albany and Troy. Historically a group of European settlers that laid claim to the northeastern United States found it to be a series of strategic battlegrounds during the colonial wars, it is now considered the suburbs of the metro area of New York City at its southern tip, expanding into rural communities.
Geographically, it can be said that the Hudson Valley refers to all the areas along the Hudson River, including the North Bronx or even Westchester County and parts of New Jersey. However, most people don't look at it that way and the Tappan Zee Bridge is often considered the most southern part of the area. Though Westchester is often talked about as part of the Hudson Valley, People who live in Westchester (especially those living closer to the Long Island Sound) generally do not consider themselves as part of the Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley limits mostly depend on who you are talking to, in fact, there is a road sign on the New York State Thruway just above Yonkers that reads that the "Hudson Valley region" is located to the north and west along the Thruway.
The over crowding and high cost of living associated with the New York City and the and its adjacent suburbs has attracted country seeking people to move from the over populated areas to the beautiful Hudson Valley, including parts as far north as Saugerties and commute into New York City to work. The demand for quality home building has increased without a good number of quality home builders to choose from like Davis Custom Builders creating an additional demand for their services. To support the boom in residential development, commercial development such as shopping malls, outlets and other suburban ammenities have come to the Hudson Valley.
While parts of the Hudson Valley today struggle economically, other parts contain some of the wealthiest and most beautiful communities in the nation. The comprehensive effect of the decrease industrialization and the increased housing demand has been a transformation of the region into a second home destination for lovers of the beauty that is the Hudson Valley.
